Communications and Research Director
Liberty Institute requires a Communication and Research Director. The work involves developing research initiatives on a range of public policy issues, particularly on political economy and environment. It also requires implementing an effective communication strategy for a successful outreach programme, and sustained networking with key stakeholders.
The Institute is a public policy research and advocacy organization, with a particular interest in exploring ways of making policy proposals politically viable. The Institute holds that free market enhances freedom of choice in the economic domain, while democracy enhances choice in the political domain. What we are looking for?
§ Deep interest in current affairs
§ Excellent research and analytical skills
§ Excellent communication and networking skills
§ Experience of writing in the mainstream publication will be an asset.
§ An understanding of the core ideas of Liberty Institute and interest in policy would be useful.
§ Relevant experience of about 4-5 years would be valuable.
What would the work involve?
§ Develop research initiatives
o Identify contemporary public policy issues, and prepare policy positions
o Build and sustain a network of relevant scholars
§ Develop and implement effective communication strategy
o Disseminate research outputs among stakeholders (scholars, think tanks, government officials and politicians, civil society)
o Build a wider network with scholars, officials, and civil society
o Regularly communicate with media
o Develop outreach leveraging the social media
The position is in Delhi. The current duration of the assignment is 6 months which could be extended if mutually acceptable. The person needs to be able to take up the assignment at the earliest, by April 15, 2011. The remuneration could be in the range of Rs 35,000 per month, but negotiable, dependent on capabilities, experience and interest of the applicant.
